Cyrano Program‘s aim is to build an experimental unmanned vehicle that will be able to launch missiles from the Rocksanne X-X series at high altitudes. The drone will be able to reach a certain height, and then by exploiting a flare maneuver the missile will be launched in a vertical position. Due to the low density air, the missile will reach an apogee that has been estimated to be 80% higher than the one reached by launching it off the ground .
Three different models are being considered: one for every missile of the Rocksanne series (I-X, II-X, E-X). The first UAV is scheduled to be finished by late 2018. It is conceived to reach an altitude of 8000 meters. After some initial considerations, based on linear interpolations of historical data, a traditional configurations will be adopted, similar to an aerobatic aircraft.
